Brazilian soccer great Ronaldo, also known as Il Fenomeno, has announced his retirement from the game due to a nagging knee injury. The 35-year-old striker sheds tears at a news conference Tuesday in Sao Paolo. I devoted everything to soccer. It`s very hard to leave something that made me so happy. Mentally, I wanted to continue, but I have to acknowledge that I lost the fight to my body. The decision is my first death. Ronaldo excited soccer fans with his foot skills, excellent scoring and speed and became Brazil`s youngest player in the 1994 FIFA World Cup. He emerged as one of the world`s best strikers in playing for leading clubs such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and AC Milan. He also holds the World Cup record of 15 career goals and is a three-time FIFA World Player of the Year.
