Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yu-na has left Toronto to train in Los Angeles.

Her management agency All That Sports said Monday, “Kim Yu-na has changed her training site from Toronto to Los Angeles for the first time in four years. She will have a personal training session at East West Ice Palace, the personal training rink of Michelle Kwan.”

“Kim made the change because she’ll be more active in the U.S. for the ice show `All That Skate LA` Oct. 2-3 and as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.”

Given the skater’s break from Brian Orser, who had been her coach for the past four years, she no longer needs to train at Toronto Cricket Club. The bitter quarrel over the cause of the breakup also means she can no longer stay in Canada because of her troubled relationship with Orser.

Since Toronto Cricket Club is Orser’s training base, Kim has trained at Granite Club in Toronto since Aug. 31.

Nothing has been decided about Kim’s new coach. All That Sports said, “Kim Yu-na’s new coach has not been selected yet and the process will start while she trains in Los Angeles.”

Kim, 20, who arrived in Los Angeles Monday, will attend a news conference Tuesday for the ice show at Pickwick Ice Center in the Los Angeles suburb of Burbank. The Staples Center will host the event featuring Kim and five-time world champion Kwan.
