On Liberation Day Sunday, which will mark the centennial anniversary of Japan’s annexation of Korea, the restoration of Gwanghwamun will be unveiled. The Cultural Heritage Administration will open the gate to the public after a plate-hanging ceremony Sunday morning. The palace walls of the gate, affiliated buildings and a royal path to Heungnyemun will also be unveiled. The restoration of the traditional gate began in 1990 as part of the restoration of Gyeongbok Palace.
