A “green growth” exhibition hall has been installed at the International Convention Center in Seogwipo City on the southern resort island of Jeju, the venue of the ASEAN-Korea Commemorative Summit.

The hall will be operated through today to promote President Lee Myung-bak’s vision of low carbon and green growth. Dubbed “Green Growth, Green Asia,” the exhibition has been put together with the intent to promote Korea’s vision for green growth and green technology to world leaders and entrepreneurs.

The hall is dealing with six themes: a general town for environment and energy in the Seoul metropolitan region; solar energy; water; a stop to carbon emissions; wind power and smart grid; and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. On display is a collection of 27 green technologies, including poly silicon, material for solar cells, and a mockup of Smart Grid, or an intelligent power network.

More than 30 state-run companies and conglomerates have taken part in the exhibition, including Korea Electric Power Corp. Korea Water Resources Corp. and the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group.

At the hall’s entrance are 11 LED TVs with the national flags of the 10 Southeast Asian countries, their national symbols and images of their leaders.

President Lee will guide the visiting leaders to the exhibition hall today, the final day of the summit, and explain Korea’s vision for green growth.
