In an effort to solve the problem of youth unemployment and aggressively create more jobs, SK Group announced yesterday that it has decided to hire a total of some 2,700 new and experienced employees in 2008. This is a 52.5 percent increase from last year’s 1,770.

For the plan, SK Telecom will hire a total of 750 college graduates in the second half of this year. Given that SK Telecom already hired 450 college graduates in the first half of the year, the total number of college graduates to be hired this year by the nation’s largest mobile carrier will reach 1,200, up 670 or 79.1 percent compared to last year.

SK Group plans to receive college graduates’ applications in September, administer a written test, and announce successful candidates by the end of November.

Moreover, in a bid to expand existing businesses or launch new businesses, the group’s affiliates will also hire an additional 1,500 employees with work experience this year, up 36.3 percent from 1,100 in the previous year.
