Phil Fontaine, national chief of the Assembly of First Nations and one of the 11 aboriginal leaders, receives a standing ovation Wednesday from Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and other representatives after he finishes his speech in the House of Commons on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario. The Canadian government made an official apology for its assimilation policies in the past such as forced accommodation of the Indian children in residential schools.
