The special investigation team dealing with Samsung slush fund allegations denounced Samsung’s attitudes yesterday. “Samsung has not cooperated in investigation,” said investigators, adding that Samsung employees have disobeyed its summons and they attempted to destroy evidence.

“We summoned four Samsung employees today. But, only one said he would comply with the summon. The other three said they could not answer the summons for a variety of reasons,” assistant prosecutor Yoon Jeong-seok said yesterday at a press conference.

Yun pointed out, “They said they would face difficulty doing business if their names are released on the media. But, they should be more cooperative in investigation.”

The special investigation team announced yesterday that an employee attempted to destroy some data stored in the Gwacheon Data Center on January 24 when the probe team raided the group’s non-life insurance unit headquarters and data centers.

The investigation team has searched Samsung’s data center for six consecutive days and it plans to ask for an additional search warrant when the current warrant expires.

The team also questioned Samsung Electronics director Sohn Ho-in (52) and Samsung Electro-Mechanics director Lee Moo-yeol (50) whose names were used by the group to open secret bank accounts. Additional two employees of Samsung Securities were also examined.
