The National Police Agency (NPA) is reviewing a reduction in enrollments for the Korea National Police University (KNPU), which also plans to replace its undergraduate program with a post-graduate program, sources claimed on Wednesday.
Based on the commissioned report: Study on Operational Innovation for the KNPU, which was submitted to the KPA by the Korea Institute of Public Administration in June, the police agency recently reported the two reform plans for the KNPU to National Police Agency Commissioner General Lee Taek-soon.
According to a civil advisory committee for the police universitys reform, the first proposed reform measure is to cut the number of students admitted to the school from 120 to 80.
The other measure is the conversion of the existing undergraduate program into a post-graduate course, similar to that of a law school. According to the measure, students of the post-graduate course will be commissioned as police lieutenants upon graduation.
