Mt. Sanpae Tunnel

The four-kilometer tunnel through Mt. Sanpae, on which construction was delayed for 18 months in the face of opposition from the Buddhist community, is under construction again. If the construction finishes in December, the 36.3-kilometer section from Ilsan to Toegyewon, which was partially open in June, will be fully open. Meanwhile, the Howon interchange that was tentatively open during the construction period will be closed from 2:00 p.m. today due to construction work connecting the tunnel and roads.
