Park Seong-baek (Seoul City Hall), a big star in Korean road cycling, won the championship of the Hyundai Invitational Tour de Korea 2007 event yesterday.
Park was the first to reach the finish line with a record of 2:22:41 in the final ninth section (102.3km) of the race, which ended in Busan yesterday. Park lost to Shinichi Fukushima of Japan the day before, but wore the yellow jersey (the yellow upper garment worn by a winner of the race), defeating Fukushima by a margin of five seconds, at the combined record time of 31 hours, 1 minute and 27 seconds after having his time reduced by 10 seconds, thanks to winning first place in the section.
The Tour de Korea, which started in Seoul on September 1, finished its 1,317 kilometer-race over nine days.
