Taxi driver Huh Se-wook (51), who had been treated at a hospital with third-degree burns all over his body after he burned himself in protest against the Korea-U.S. FTA at the Hotel Hyatt negotiation venue in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on April 1, passed away yesterday due to blood poisoning and complications from the burn.

The bereaved family of Huh arranged a mortuary at a hospital located in Huh’s hometown, Anseong City, Gyeonggi Province, but is not receiving callers for condolences.

The “Funeral Service Committee for the Hero Laborer Huh Se-wook Against Korea-U.S. FTA” held a candlelight vigil to the memory of Huh in front of Hangang Seongsim Hospital from 7:00 p.m. on April 15, and said, “We will continue to oppose the Korea-U.S. FTA and Roh administration.”
