Commissioning

A commission ceremony was held to declare the official naming of Wanggun as a war ship of the Korean Navy at the headquarters of a naval station in Jinhae, South Gyeongsang Province on November 10. Wanggun is a 4,500-ton class stealth destroyer, which is Korea’s fourth, state-of-the-art KDX-II destroyer. The warship is the biggest structure among the KDX-II class destroyers at 150m in length and 17m in width. It can conduct naval operations far off in the sea with a top speed of 30 knots and a cruising radius of more than 4,000 miles.
