Even Mount Baekdu, despite of its masculine image, blushes in autumn. The scenery is pictured on September 17, on the path from Cheonmun Peak connected down to Heukpunggu. The diverse white streams flowing down in the middle of the photo are waters derived from Cheonji, a crater lake at the top of the mountain. They flow down to the Jangbaek Waterfall and then to Songhua River. The woods, covering the manly muscles of Mount Baekdu like a red carpet, are bog bilberries, the main ingredient of the specialty liquor of the region: “Deuljjuk-sul.”
