SSN 775

The U.S.S. Texas (SSN 775), a new nuclear submarine of the U.S. Navy, is entering Galveston Bay, Texas escorted by the ship “Elisa” on September 4 (local time). The U.S.S. Texas was constructed over four years by the Newport News Shipbuilding & Drydock Co. in Virginia, and it will be arranged in Atlantic Fleet starting with a commissioning ceremony on September 9. It is the fourth warship named after Texas, with the first one named “Texas” (1895-1911). Elisa is an official sailing vessel of the state of Texas which started the first voyage in 1877.
