Ever since North Korea refused to participate in the six-party talks in September last year, the country has been producing nuclear material and currently has enough plutonium to make up to 13 nuclear weapons, according to U.S. Rep. Jim Leach on June 29. He added, “According to an expert, North Korea extracted enough plutonium to make four to 13 nuclear weapons. This is more than a 50 percent increase in the amount of plutonium that North Korea was estimated to have before 2003.”
