Dick Advocaat has been noted to jokingly dodge sensitive questions posed by reporters. This was particularly the case when reporters gathered in Glasgow; their questions have often been answered with typical Advocaat humor. Nevertheless, let it not be said he was not throwing them a bone or two.

After arriving at Glasgow Airport on May 28, Advocaat was asked why he had chosen to bring the team to the Highlands instead of Germany where the World Cup will be held. “I told you already. I wanted to meet my ex-girlfriends,” said Advocaat. “It has a superb environment. Our guys can focus on training here,” he added.

Kim Nam-il sprained his ankle during a practice match. Lee Eul-ryong and Seol Ki-hyun trained separately in their lodging, which brought about the suspicion of injuries. Hands were raised at the press conference. “Would you rather have us swimming instead of practicing soccer?” said Advocaat. “You get injured when you play soccer. The injuries are not as serious as you think.”

Advocaat said that he will not play Lee Chun-su on Norway match. One reporter asked, “Is it because you wanted to give Park Ju-young a chance after his fine performance at Bosnia-Herzegovina match?” Advocaat answered with a grin; “Maybe you should coach the team instead of me.” He stroked the reporter head and left the room.
