Kang Kum-sil (49), former justice minister, was chosen to be the Uri Partys candidate to run for the upcoming mayoral election of Seoul on Tuesday.
The election was held in the Olympic Stadiums fencing arena in Songpa-gu, Seoul, where Kang beat her opponent Lee Kye-ahn with 3,420 votes (including the 20 percent additional votes given to women candidates). Lee received 1,305 votes.
With this, the candidates competing for the Seoul mayoral election are Kang, Oh Se-hun from the Grand National Party, Park Ju-sun from the Millennium Democratic Party, and Lim Jong-chul from the Democratic Labor Party.
