North High on List of Failing States

North Korea ranked 14th on the list of failing states released by the U.S. diplomatic journal Foreign Policy and the Fund for Peace.

The list names countries on the brink after assessing countries in terms of power of government, legitimacy of regime, internal peacekeeping capability, pubic services for basic livelihood, and the power of law enforcement authorities.

Sudan ranked first as it suffers serious civil wars, followed by the Democratic Republic of Congo (2), Cote d’Ivoire (3), Iraq (4), and Zimbabwe (5).

Chad (6), Somalia (7), Haiti (8), Pakistan (9) and Afghanistan (10) are also included in the top ten.

The survey was conducted on 148 countries in the world. Out of the top 20 countries, 11 are African countries.
