The “Man Gyong Bong 92,” the only freight and passenger liner connecting Japan and North Korea, entered Niigata Port on May 18. In March of this year, the Japanese government had prohibited vessels of 100 tons and over which were not insured by the owners (terms that in effect target the “Man Gyong Bong 92”) from entering Japanese ports. The liner was only recently insured.
