Prime Minister Iyad Allawi of Iraqs interim government (left) visited Sadr City, a Shiite area on the outskirts of Baghdad, on October 17, and was greeted by al-Sadr (second from right), a descendent of the Shiite religious leader from whom the city takes its name. Allawi was scheduled to tour a sports stadium inside the city where disarmament was in progress, but a mortar assault 15 minutes prior to arrival caused the visit to be canceled.
