Defense Minister Cho Young-kil, at the National Defense Committee of National Assembly on May 19, explained that there would be no security gap in military capacity despite the deployment of some U.S. Army soldiers from South Korea to Iraq. However, lawmakers scolded the lack of a countermeasure from the government against the deployment.
