Park Ji-sung makes Explosive Comeback with Two Goals

Posted November. 02, 2003 22:45,

The very talented Park Ji-sung (age 22; PSV Eindhoven) made an explosive comeback.

In a visiting match against NAC Breda for the Netherlands Professional League on November 2, Park Ji-sung started the game as an offensive mid-fielder and led the team to a 3-1 victory with two goals.

Unlike his game against Ajax on October 26, when he was substituted into the game in the second half because of his deteriorated physical condition, Park scored two goals; not letting down head coach Guus Hiddink’s expectations. This was Park’s second time he scored a goal since August 24 against Willem II. This was also the first time since Park’s arrival in the Netherlands to score two goals in a single game.

Eindhoven got off to a good start with the help of Theo Lucius’ first goal of the game in the fourth minute of the first half. On the 31st minute of the first half, Park scored his first goal of the game. After passing a defender, Lee Young-pyo gave Rommedahl a pass from the left side of the field. Rommedahl passed the ball to John de Jong, who as he fell down on the left side of the goal box, passed the ball to Park for the assist.

Park kicked the ball with his right foot towards the goal so accurately that the goalkeeper had nothing else to do but watch. Nine minutes later, Park scored another goal with a header.

Eindhoven currently has 23 points (7 wins, 2 ties, 2 losses) and is in second place in the league only after Ajax (25 points).
