The U.S. Democratic Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton who is now the talk of the town as some details of her memoir have been disclosed. She said in a telephone interview with the New York Times that, “I thought I had to write not only about the many high points and good times — but also the difficult times as well.”
“First ladies in recent times have all taken the opportunity at the end of their husband`s terms to write about their experiences. So when I decided to follow in those footsteps, I wanted to give as complete an account of my eight years with my husband in the White House as I could,” Mrs. Clinton said.
Asked how much Mr. Clinton involved in preparing the manuscript, she said, “I`m not going to comment on the process. But anyone who knows us knows that we work together on everything.”
In Washington, there is speculation that the reason that Mrs. Clinton confessed frankly about her anger felt concerning her husband`s affair is a political gesture for her running for president in 2008.
Mrs. Clinton is said by associates to be preparing to run for president in 2008, assuming the Democrats do not win the White House next year. Hence, she has to address all the details of her husband’s affairs. She was once criticized for ignoring when she ran for Senate in 2000.
As the Clinton couple gets all the attention, people are paying less attention to democratic candidates preparing to run for president next year, NBC reported.
Therefore, Mrs. Clinton must strike a blow harder even harder and she will actually do it.
“Women will vote on sympathy once Hilary`s struggle to keep her marriage is known,” Susan Carroll, a woman politician was quoted as saying in USA Today.
Meanwhile, Simon & Schuster which has the rights to the memoir, is reviewing a suit for damages against AP for leaking details before the first sales of the book. Time Magazine is considering dropping the contract for rights to publish excerpts from the books and also in response to the leak, ABC News, which was supposed to air the first interview with Mrs. Clinton, began showing parts of the conversation in advance of the scheduled broadcast.
