The Korean Hurricane is continuing into Michelob Light Open, the 7th championship of the US LPGA Tour.
The first round was held yesterday at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia. Grace Park and Hee-won Han jointly occupy the fourth spot, one stroke behind the leading three players. Se Ri Pak, who has already won two titles this season, and Mi-Hyun Kim also jointly secure the tenth spot. Among top ten, four South Korean pro golfers are ranked.
Park got off to a little fluctuating start. Her play, however, indicated that she has overcome her slump. On the other hand, Han made six birdies and two bogeys, maintaining her recent momentum.
In the meanwhile, Annika Sorenstam landed on the top sixth spot. She is expected to have a fierce "bout" with South Korean players for the remaining three days on her way to the championship.
It was Sorenstam`s first play after two-week rest. Sorenstam demonstrated her power, and cut down on four in three par-5 holes. Especially in hole 3, her driving shot flew 291 years. Then, she made two-on and succeeded 14m eagle putting.
Kraft Nabisco Championship winner Patricia Meunier-Lebouc recorded 2-under 69, putting herself even with Se Ri Pak and Mi-Hyun Kim. Webb made out 1-under 70, and got ranked at 17.
In the meanwhile, Suzy Whaley, who got her ticket to this year`s US PGA Tour against male players, participated in this championship on invitation by the sponsor. But, she fell far behind with 6-over 77.
