“House Price Soared 20% Just In a Month ”

In January, apartment price for trade and lease in Daejeon was up 6.65% and 6.19% respectively, which are 33 times of those of Kyonggi Province over the same period (0.11%).

Lyu (38) who was distributed a 32-pyong Dunsan Sammeori apartment for 87 million won in 2001 said, "I leased the apartment before the Presidential election and got mortgage on apartment property as security from bank and then I buy a 43-pyong apartment in Noeun region, Yoosung-gu. When the government announced to take drastic measures, someone complained in an internet bulletin board saying, "House price of Don-gu and Chung-gu is only half of that of ten years ago. Why this region should be designated as a speculation region?"

Residents of 11 cities and district in Chungnam Province which were designated as the land transaction permitted area are also complaining.

The land price increased about 20% right after the Presidential election in Osong, Ochang region Kangwoe-myon Cheongwon-gun Chungbuk Province.

Song Jea-ho (70, Kangwoe-myon Cheongwon-gun) who has been a farmer for all of his life in this region said, "The price increased not because of the administrative capital but because of Osong housing development which was exercised before the election. Tactless measures of the government cut the trades."

Lim Jea-chun (62) in Yeonki-gun Chungnam Province said, "I try to sell land for my child`s university entrance fee, but the trading formalities are so perplexing."

▽ Rumors Afloat = As various rumors about proposed sites for the administrative capital get about, relentlessness prevails among the people.

When there was a rumor that the government building would move to where the headquarters for the army, the navy and the air force was located and the headquarters would move to Gwachun where the government buildings were located, a building company stopped distributing its apartment houses wishing the price would soar.

Moreover, there is a rumor in Jangki-myon Kongju Chungnam Province that the Presidential Transition Committee (PTC) has in mind Kongju as a proposed site, reminding the fact that it was a strongly proposed in 1979 when Park Jeong-hee was the President.
