Korea accomplished a good job of achieving a tie for the 3rd place in the World Cup Golf.

It was the final 4th round of the 2002 EMC World Cup Golf (3 million dollars in total prize money) held at the Vista Bajerta Golf Club Nicklaus Course (Par 72. 7,057 Yards) in Mexico on the 16th (Korean local time).

Korea represented by Choi, Kyung-Joo (Superior, Talyormade) and Huh, Suk-Ho (Lee, Dong-Soo Fashion) recorded 6 under par that day and 4 rounds total of 30 under par, 258 shots, so she got the tie for the 3rd place with England. The best record for Korea in this tournament is the 5th place in 1971 (America) and 1981 (Mexico).

Japan (Maruyama Sigeki, Ijawa Tosimitz) reduced 6 shots again and marked total of 36 under par, 252 shots, so she got the second championship after 1957. The runner-up was America with 34 under par, 254 shots.

In the day`s match, which was done in four-some (two players hit one ball in every hole), Choi, Kyung-Joo and Huh, Suk-Ho showed an awesome partnership, so they created an eagle and 5 birdies, and only had one bogie.

Korea started the first hole uneasily with a bogie by 3 on 2 puttings.

However, Korea, which got the first birdie in the first par 5 hole, the 3rd hole, got an eagle in the 8th hole. Huh, Suk-Ho, who showed tremendous fairway wood shots during the tournament, hit the ball with the number 3 wood for 250 yards to 6m away from the hole cup, and Choi, Kyung-Joo made a picture-perfect eagle putting.

Korea also showed her nerve in the 9th hole that Huh, Suk-Ho made a one-on with a number 6 iron, and Choi, Kyung-Joo easily made a birdie.

At the bottom half, Korea made consecutive birdies in the 12th and the 13th hole, and she shook off Canada (Mike Wear-Ian Regardt), which played in the same group with Korea.

In the meantime, America (Phil Mikelson-David Toms), which hit 15 under par the other day, hit the daily best 7 under par, 65 shots and tried a come-from-behind win; however, she made a hurting double bogie at the 18th hole (par 4), so she lost an opportunity to go to the extra hole with Japan.
