Hwang In-Don, a brother-in-law of the president`s third son Hong-Gul, met president of Korea Heavy Industries Inc. (which was a government owned company at that time, but now renamed as Doosan Heavy Industries Inc.) Yoon Young-Seok in the spring of 2000 and requested to bestow a favor in a construction bidding.

A related person of the Doosan Heavy Industries Inc. said on May 9, `It is true that president Yoon once met Mr. Hwang at that time,` and added, `Mr. Hwang greeted president Yoon to say to look after Hwang`s business and requested to endow a favor in a construction bidding.`

However the related person of the Doosan Heavy Industries Inc. emphasized, `Alias C construction company managed by Hwang did not participate in the construction bidding, and a business deal between Korea Heavy Industries and Hwang`s company has never occurred.`

The ownership of Korea Heavy Industries Inc. has been transferred to the Doosan Group in March last year and the company transformed to a private company, Doosan Heavy Industries Inc. President Yoon is now the vice chairman of Doosan Heavy Industries Inc.
