[Editorial] The Safety of Chinese Airplanes Is Other`s Matter.

The massive aircraft accident, which harmed more than 100 people occurred for the first time in Korea-China circuit, amid increase in flight passengers due to growing activity of economic exchange between Korea and China such as trade, investment and tour, etc.

Flames due to explosion of body of airplane, which was broken into three pieces, is rising and bodies of victims are scattered on the mountain, it is really a tragic sight.

Investigative team will clarify the reasons for the accident, however, the reason

why the airplane, which was going towards Incheon airport, giving up Kimhae airport due to thick fog and strong wind, land back at Kimhae airport again, is not clear.

Examination of the reasons whether the people concerned with operation like pilot took situation easy, or whether it was simple mistake of the pilot, should be clearly revealed.

The accident that took place in Korea-China circuit was connected to big loss of Korean lives.

More than 80 percent of passengers who were on the ill fated flight were Koreans and 1,290,000, which is 72.5 percent of 1,780,000 airplane tourists during the last one year were Koreans.

This statistic number shows that the safety of Chinese airplane is not the matter of foreign nation only.

The Korea-China circuit recorded 37 percent growth per annum after 1998 and passengers are expected to increase more this year.

It is regrettable that airplane which belonged to China`s best public airplane company met with such an accident before World cup that is expecting international guests besides China.

The U.S. investigates the safety of airplanes that comes to the nation regularly for the sake of protecting its people and if it doesn`t reach to standards, it classifies it as dangerous nation in safety of airplane and controls it.

FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), before classified Korea as dangerous nation in airplane safety but it recovered recently.

Government should be interested in technology, current situation and rule of safety of Chinese airplane following the rules of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) and reinforce cooperation for the safety of airplanes.

And, it should do its best to bring the situation under control including remedies of survival and compensation for victims.
