New Prosecutor General Lee Myung-Jae took office as the 31st Prosecutor General yesterday.

Prosecutor General Lee Myung-Jae attended the inauguration ceremony at the Public Prosecutors Office yesterday and expressed his intention to achieve the prosecutors independence from political intervention and for the fair investigation and the reformation of the Prosecution, saying that the Prosecution will "recover the public support by fairness, transparency, and honor."

Mr. Lee immediately made preparations for reorganizing personnel, anticipating the rearrangement of high-ranking prosecutors, including the Seoul District Prosecutor General by next week.

With Kim Kyung-Han`s retirement, Seoul District Prosecutor General, and Kim Young-Chul, the chairperson of the Legal Research & Training Institute, 4 high ranking prosecution posts, including the Kwangju High Prosecutor General and the director of the Planning Department of the Legal Research & Training Institute, will be filled through personnel rearrangement.

Consequently, Kim Dae-Wung, Seoul District Prosecutor General, is expected to receive promotion as the Seoul High Prosecutor General. In addition, 5 core personnel of the Public Prosecution including the vice director of the Public Prosecutors Office, Seoul District Prosecutor General, the director of the Public Prosecution in the Ministry of Justice, the director of the Central Investigation Department, and the director of the Public Security Department are expected to be changed.
