Cardinal Kim Soo-Hwan (80) emphasized yesterday that "The next Presidential election should be a moment to fundamentally reform our political culture. I wish the new President to be a person who is trustworthy, who respects rules, and who has deep insight into and love for human beings."
Cardinal Kim said at his interview with the Donga Ilbo in his office at Hyehwa-dong, "The runners for political power must respect the spirit of fair play. Both the winner and the losers will be real winners through a fair game."
Cardinal Kim also anticipated that "Through the Presidential election, the generations of politicians will be smoothly shifted."
With regard to President Kim, Cardinal Kim said, "Some of what President Kim has done must be criticized. I wish him to be appreciated as a great President after the end of his term through fair administration of the Presidential election during the last period of his term."
