Excessive Issuing of Pork-barreling Budget on Welfare… Gov`t Should Tighten the Budget

In relation to the President Kim Dae-Jung`s administrative policy speech on the budget bill next year, Kwon Chul-Hyun, spokesperson of the Grand National Party, said that ``people will turn their back against the government since the speech does not have any serious self-reflection, but only self-praise.``

Kwon, giving a briefing to the party leaders, said, ``There won`t be any improvement if the government administers the state affairs without making efforts to become an developed country while humbly admitting the mistakes of the government administration.``

Kwon also said in his comment that ``the pork-barreling budget takes the form of productive welfare budget, and there is no sufficient explain on how to supply the financial resources of the budget bill. The government should not try to supply the financial resources by taking money from salaried people and collecting tax from the press firms.``

Along with this, Kwon called for drawing up the tightened budget bill as much as possible to overcome the economic crisis, asking, ``How does the government expect people to bear the burden of tax that is 2.71 million won per capita and 11 million won per household?``
