`Overproduction of Rice to Be Suspended`

Government and the Democrats has decided to increase government purchase of rice and to review the suspension of cultivation for certain area for certain period when the over production of rice continues.

The chairperson of the second policy coordination committee Kang Un-Tae announced, ``365 thousand sum of rice production is expected for this year, and by this time next year, there will be around 125 thousand sum of overstock rice.``

He also said, ``We are reviewing the plan to increase the government purchase of rice and incentive system to give low interest rate.``

If the good harvest continues for a long period, government will review a plan that considers not the quantity but the quality of rice.

Kang also added, ``We are seriously reviewing a plan that suspends rice cultivation for certain area for certain time if the overproduction continues.``
