Castro considers visiting South, North Korea

Cuba`s President Fidel Castro is considering visiting both South and North Korea in hopes of playing a role in establishing peace on the Korean peninsula, National Assembly Speaker Lee Man-Sup disclosed.

Now attending the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Havana, Cuba, Lee disclosed that he had asked the Cuban leader to visit both Koreas during a reception hosted by Castro for delegates to the IPU conference, and secured a positive response from him. If Castro, who is maintains an alliance with the North, decides to play an intermediary role, inter-Korean relations could make significant progress, observers said.
