I worked night and day for a venture firm in Kangnam, Seoul. But the head of the company was solely concerned with attracting investment funds while neglecting research and development. For this reason, he failed to pay his employees their monthly wages for a period of several months last year. With three months of wages still owing, I left the company. Then the chief executive officer (CEO) set up a new firm. I was still refused my due salary, the excuse being that the new company was established under another man`s name. I am now exhausted at having made futile appeals to the Labor Ministry and the courts. I`m sure there are many venture businessmen who do the same thing in their relentless pursuit of investment. The government is right to support venture businesses, but it is no less important to prevent immoral businessmen from entering the field and exploiting their workers. I would hate to think of how many other people will fall into the same trap that I did.
