K-League MVP Choi Yong-Soo of Anyang LG is set to join JEF United Icihara of the Japanese League after signing a two-year contract for 300 million yen (about 3.21 billion won), which includes a transfer fee of 100 million yen (1.07 billion won) and a yearly allowance. The 27-year-old striker thus became the J-League¡¯s highest-paid Korean player.

JEF United suffered severely from the lack of a talented striker last year, finishing last among the league¡¯s 16 teams in the second half and 14th overall. It only narrowly escaped relegation to the second tier. The team¡¯s Brazilian player Baron scored 13 goals last season, the highest among its players, for ninth place in the list of top scorers, but it had no other reliable goal threat.
