Nov. 7 heralds winter (Ipdong)

Winter is just around the corner with Ipdong day on Tuesday--the beginning of winter in the old lunar calendar.

Weathermen said Monday that a continental high pressure system will take the temperature down and bring cold winds in the afternoon lasting through the middle of the week. Winter months have set in upon Ipdong day-- a seasonal node on the traditional calendar.

The forecast calls for a clear day across the country, though it will be cloudy in the Tuesday morning. The maximum temperature during the day will be 12-20 degrees centigrade and the day's average low will be 1-13 degrees. Mercury will go down to 1 degree in Cholwon--the lowest in the nation with Chunchon registering 3 degrees, Seoul and Chongju 6 degrees and Suwon 5 degrees. The entire country except for the southern area is expected see temperatures below 10, and the day's highest temperature will drop a little too.
