Eco-bridge to be constructed on Kyongui line

An eco-bridge that will enable wild animals to move safely will be built on the 4-lane highway linking Kaesong and Munsan following the Kyongui railway.

A government official revealed that the eco-bridge will be built as the Kaesong~Munsan highway may hinder the free movement of wild animals in the DMZ. He added that it will be constructed as an overpass as the eco-tunnel being demanded by environmental groups would be difficult to construct.

For their part, domestic environmental groups are demanding that an all-season environmental survey and sufficient environmental measures be adopted by the government in relation to the Kyongui line restoration project prior to the completion of construction, which is slated for next September.
