The government appointed Sunday three diplomatic mission chiefs, including Hwang Won-Tak, former senior presidential secretary for security affairs, as ambassador to Germany.
In the reshuffle, former ambassador to Kenya Park Myung-Joon was named ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and Chung Tae-Ik, a research commissioner at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security, was appointed as cochairman of the Inter-Korean Nuclear Control Committee.
Hwang, 62, born in Pyongchang, Kangwon-do, graduated from the Korean Military Academy, served as a senior representative of the Military Armistice Commission and ambassador to Panama.
Park, 59, born in Chonghwa, Pyongnam, graduated from Yonsei University, served as minister of the Korean embassy to Italy and consul general at Vladivostok.
Chung, 57, hailing from Chongju, Chungbuk, graduated from the Law College at Seoul National University, served as consul general at Cairo, director general of the ministry's planning and management office and ambassador to Italy.
