¡±Super peanut¡± Kim Mi-Hyun and U.S. top junior golfer Song Ari shared the lead with three others in the Safeway LPGA Golf Championship ($800,000 prize) to enter the final round.
Kim scored 1-under 143 in total, with 1-over 73, four birdies and five bogeys in the second round at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club (par 72, 6,307 yards) Saturday. Kim, who finished the first round in third place, shared the leadership with amateur ethnic Korean sensation Song Ari, who was invited by the championship sponsor, Annika Sorenstam of Sweden and Dottie Pepper and Donna Andrews of the U.S.
If Song Ari wins the championship, she will become the first amateur to take an LPGA tour trophy in 31 years, since Joanne Carner won an LPGA tournament in 1969. She would also become the youngest champion ever by breaking the 1952 record set by Marlin Heizi, who was 18 years and 14 days old.
