Moon elected head of world meteorological body

Administrator Moon Sung-Euii of the Korea Meteorological Administration, was elected head of the World Meteorological Organization in a unanimous vote by the representatives of 28 countries during the organization¡¯s 12th regular Asian committee meeting at the Olympia Hotel in Seoul Saturday.

This is the first time for a Korean meteorological administrator to become the chairman of the WMO. He will serve as the head of the organization for 4 years. Moon said in his inauguration speech that he would request the WMO's support in efforts to solve problems in the Asian region, where investment in research and development and the meteorological network are substandard.
