The percentage of families having computers reached 66.0 percent this year, and over one-half of the entire Korean population is making use of computers.
The figures came from a survey by the Korea Information Culture Center of 3,000 persons, both male and female, aged between 13 and 64, from April 26 to May 10. The results of the census on the state of the nation's information technology in practical use by the people in the year 2000 were made public Tuesday.
Household computer ownership rose 14 percentage points from 52.0 percent last year to the extent that about two-thirds have computers today -- an impressive growth.
The rate of computer-using families jumped 12.5 percentage points over last year, giving proof of a high standard of information technology the people have attained in their daily lives.
