The government is pursuing the establishment of a joint research center in Beijing where discussions and exchanges for inter-Korean economic cooperation can take place.
"In an effort to examine the long-term economic cooperation between the two Koreas, as well as to establish collaborative relationship, the two Koreas are considering to open a joint research center in Beijing," Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy Shin Kook-Hwan said on Monday at a press conference.
"In the public sector, there already is a joint inter-Korean research center at Beijing University," Shin pointed out. "By establishing such a joint research center, the two governments will be able further develop an amicable relationship.
"Once this research facility is developed, the scholars from both the South and the North would come together for the purpose of inter-Korean economic cooperation, as well as long-term projects.¡±
