Two Korean short films - "My Love, Cross Driver," and "Self-Portrait 2000 (photo)" -- joined the main round of this year`s Venice International Film Festival, following the entry of Director Kim Ki-Duk`s "Island" in the best film category.

"My Love, Cross Driver," a second-term graduation work (directed by Ha Ki-Ho) of the Korean Motion Picture Academy, depicts the consciousness and unconsciousness of the hero, who thinks of love as "possession of a body," through comparing the human body and machines.

It features a dissonant soundtrack connected to its theme.

"Self-Portrait 2000" (directed by Lee Sang-Yol) explores the meaning of relief through the actions of a degenerating middle-aged man. In order to realize true sound, digital surround sound was used, a rare move for a short film.

The Venice International Film Festival opens on August 30 and will run through September 9.
