The Philippines’ mid-term election, considered to be a mid-term evaluation for President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, was held on May 14 in 300,000 constituencies among the nation’s 81 states. In this election, Filipinos voted for 12, or half, of their Senate, all 265 representatives, and some 17,000 local officials. Bong Cawed, chief of the Philippine aborigine tribe Bontoc (right), is casting his ballot at a polling station in a school in the city of Bagio in the northern part of the Philippines.
