On May 10, U.N. Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights Jean Ziegler urged, “North Korea and China should stop the systematic and extensive oppression of North Korean escapees.”

In his statement delivered this day, Ziegler expressed regret while announcing, “With support from North Korean secret agents, China is tracking down and repatriating a large number of the North Korean escapees.”

Quoting information collected by officials from international organizations and non-governmental organizations, Ziegler claimed that China is participating in a systematic crackdown activity by paying a $200 reward for anyone providing details of the location of North Korean escapees.
