After being premiered on April 13, the “Good People,” a new entertainment show on Channel A, is drawing a heated attention on social network services. The Good People follows eight law school students vying for internship at a law firm. The show presents a panel of TV personalities as “Good People supporters” including comedians Kang Ho-dong, Lee Soo-geun, announcer Shin Ah-young, judge-turned-novelist Do Jin-gi, actor Lee Si-won, and singer Jeon Bum-sun. Once hired, the interns are given the opportunity to learn the practice of law and receive tasks, and two of them are officially hired as lawyers.
The full-version video of the first episode, which was released on YouTube by Channel A, garnered as many as 350,000 viewers in 10 days. The first two episodes depicted their first day at work, their first task of researching lawsuits about Bitcoin and drawing up a petition, as well as the rank of task evaluation from mentors.
After the first episode was aired, the Good People became the most searched real-time keyword in Daum and among entertainment and TV shows. The research from GoodData found that the “trending indicator” on the Good People collected through news, videos, and tweets, has soared from the previous week, pointing to a growing world-of-mouth among viewers.
Many viewers relate to the show calling it “a reality-show version of the popular TV show “Misaeng.” The Good People offers a glimpse into various aspects of real world such as the interns’ passion, lawyers’ mentoring, and the nerve-wracking first day at work, which any with job-searching experiences could understand.
Viewers on YouTube are giving positive feedbacks, saying, “it is a revelation that law-school students are not so different than any other interns like myself,” and “anyone seeking to land a job and joining a firm as new entries would feel the same way.” Some commented that they were touched by the mentors’ warm support for the interns, reminding them of the times they were interns themselves.
