Only three minutes after replacing Isco in the 16th minute of the second half, Gareth Bale stunned the football world with a spectacular goal when the score was 1-1. The Welshman fired in an incredible overhead kick to redirect Marcelo’s left-wing cross and flash the ball into Liverpool’s net.

In the 2017-2018 UEFA Champions League Final between Liverpool and Real Madrid at the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine on Sunday, two goals from Bale earned Real Madrid their 13th European crown in a 3-1 triumph over Liverpool and a third successive win. Madrid has become the first team to win the European Cup/Champions League in three successive seasons since European Cup renamed Champions League. It has been 42 years since Bayern Munich between 1974 and 1976 achieved their third successive win. Liverpool with five Champions League titles fought hard in the quest for their victory in 13 years since the 2004-2005 Champions League title, but was unlucky to be defeated by Madrid.

Liverpool’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah, a top scorer with 32 goals this season, left the field in tears in the 26st minute of the first half with a shoulder injury after a collision with Sergio Ramos. That blow not only put the Egyptian out of the club soccer’s most prestigious game but it could also put him out of the 2018 World Cup.
