Shinsegae launches mobile payment system ‘SSG pay’

Shinsegae Group has become the first Korean retailer to launch its mobile integrated payment system.

Users can pay with a credit card registered in the SSG Pay Application. Another way to use SSG Pay is to convert cash or register a gift card to charge the app with its e-currency SSG money. When paying with the app, users can choose whether to pay with a credit card or SSG money. In the future, the SSG Pay app will be interfaced with a bank account to support the debit payment function.

SSG Pay will be available at nine Shinsegae-affiliated companies, such as Shinsegae Department Store, E-Mart and Starbucks, etc. The retail group plans to increase to business partners that accept the new mobile payment system such as gas stations and movie theaters.
