A bicycle race wishing for peace, healing and overcoming the pain and suffering of the Korean War, was held at the Demilitarized Zone, an off-limits area to civilians. The inaugural Tour de DMZ International Bicycle Race got off a magnificent start Friday. The event is co-hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Gangwon and Gyeonggi provinces, the Korea Cycling Association and The Dong-A Ilbo. On the first day, 102 competitors departed from Unification Observatory in Goseong County, Gangwon Province, and raced 184 kilometers westward to reach the Peace Team. In this photo, bikers from around the world ride up the old path of Mishiryeong that links to Eulji Observatory (995 meters), the halfway point of the race.
