Cleveland Indians slugger Choo Shin-soo yesterday extended his hitting streak to seven games, going 2-5 in a 5-4 loss to the Boston Red Sox.
Choo also notched his 100th hit with Cleveland and raised his batting average to .308. In the loss, he drove in one run and scored two.
Pitcher Park Chan-ho of the Los Angeles Dodgers gave up a hit and a run in two-thirds of an inning in a 12-4 home win over the San Diego Padres, earning his fifth hold of the season. He threw a fastball of 97 miles per hour but his ERA rose from 2.99 to 3.06.
Park came on to strand Clayton Kershaw on second base in the sixth inning with the Dodgers leading 4-3 and Nick Hundley. He forced Luis Gonzales to ground out in the seventh with the Dodgers up 6-3, but allowed Chip Ambres a hit and was replaced by Joe Beimel.
Beimel gave up hits and allowed Ambres a run, thus resulting in Park being credited with an earned run.
